Who Wants to Be A Millionaire – OMG
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire – Ken Basin loses $475,000!!!
While this has absolutely nothing to do with scuba diving, or with the Maldives for that matter, I couldn’t believe my eyes this evening, when Who Wants to be a Millionaire contestant Ken Basin, from Los Angeles, California, made a guess on the MILLION DOLLAR question and LOST, losing him a whopping $475,000!
Maybe he was already a Millionaire?
The contestant Ken Basin, gave host, Regis Philbin, a good rundown on his background, from his parents arriving in the US from the Soviet Union in 1982, with absolutely nothing; they were chasing the American Dream. I wonder what they will have to say about his lacksadaisacal decision to “gamble” away almost $500,000.
Millionaire – the Name of the Game?
I would always have said that you have to go for it in times like this. I mean, the guy arrived at the Who Wants to be a Millionaire studio with nothing, so he is still leaving with $25,000 more than he came with, but still… Ken Basin’s only 24, $500,000 would surely have changed his life!!!
Who Wants to be a Millionaire…. What was the Question?
The million-dollar question, in case you missed it, on this season finale’s Who Wants to be a Millionaire… was:
President LBJ had four buttons in the oval office for the speedy delivery of his favorite drinks. They were coffee, tea, coke and which other….
A) Fresca
B) V8
C) Yoo-Hoo
D) A&W
Ken Basin chose C, on the Audience’s reccomendation, but alas, the answer was A) Fresca.

Encounter with Moray Eel leaves Scuba Diver without a Thumb
The following video is entertaining, but shows that you shouldn’t pick on a Moray Eel, or, for that matter, any other sea creature. While Moray Eels are not aggressive creatures, the subject of the video shows that they can cause severe damage.
Scuba Accident
Toward the end of the video, after minutes of tormenting the Eel, the accident is seen and then right at the end of the video, you can see what this scuba diver had to go through to recover from the accident… it’s almost a medical miracle!

Hilarious Scuba Safety Video
This entertaining video is a perfect display of scuba diving madness. The guys from Awe Mpty demonstrate in their own, humourous way, the dangers of scuba diving.
Decompression Sickness
The video describes the symptoms of decompression sickness, also known as the Bends, in a series of hilarious skits, which include vomiting, headaches, loss of memory and incontinence.
Nitrogen Narcosis
In the second half of the video, the duo go on to describe the funny effects of nitrogen narcosis, including a scuba diver who tries talking to a fish.
This lighthearted, but educational video is great for a laugh!

Discovery Channel’s Shark Week Returns
Every year, since 1987, the Discovery Channel has been dedicating one week each year, “shark week”, to sharks, some of the world’s most belloved yet most feared aquatic creatures. Documentaries shown during shark week usually have the aim of increasing awareness about sharks around the world and conserving the species as much as possible.
Shark Week 2009 Programming
This year, shark week began on Sunday August 1 and has shown some cracking shark shows, including Blood in the Water, Sharkbite Summer and Day of the Shark. Shark week is a great opportunity to learn more about sharks and their interesting role in the underwater world.
Discovery Channel Shark Week Online
There are also a lot of special shark week shows and videos online at www.discovery.com, including Shark Map, a documentary dedicated to divulging the status of sharks around the world, how many are left and where they are living, stories about the worst shark attack ever, and videos of crazy shark scenes. The following is one of the clips from Shark Week 2009

Scuba Diving Videos from the Maldives
The Maldives scuba diving is some of the best in the world. While you can spend all day looking at underwater photos, there’s no better way to get a feel for scuba diving than videos. So, we put together this selection of scuba diving videos for your information and entertainment.
Scuba Diving Video of a Sea Turtle
Most scuba divers in the world will tell you that the Sea Turtle is one of their favourite underwater creatures to see while diving. They are such peaceful creatures, it really is a joy to scuba with them. This video shows a really big sea turtle cruising around the Maldives. There are several turtle species in the Maldives, including the Green Turtle and the Hawksbill Turtle.
Scuba Diving Video of Dolphins
This next video shows some rare footage of dolphins taken while scuba diving in the Maldives. Dolphins are such graceful animals, it is a pleasure to scuba dive or swim in the water when they are around.
Scuba Diving Video of a Grey Reef Shark
The Grey Reef Shark is another of the most popular underwater creatures with scuba divers in the Maldives. The next video shows a Grey Reef Shark meandering among other fish at Makaru Thila dive site in the Maldives.
Scuba Diving Video of a Puffer Fish
This next video is of a large puffer fish. They are such strange creatures I thought it deserved to be included in the selection. Almost prehistoric, dont you think?
Scuba Diving Video of a Manta Ray
Another of the favourite creatures swimming around the Maldives is the Manta Ray. In fact, the Manta and the Whale Shark are the two main attractions of these waters. This video shows an amazing, majestic Manta Ray cruising around the ocean. Can you believe how awesome it is?
Scuba Diving Video of Oriental Sweetlips
Some of my favourite reef-dwelling fish are the Sweetlips, of which there are loads in the Maldives. They are just such pretty little fish. In this video, you see a large school of Harlequin Sweetlips cruising under water.
Scuba Diving Videos of a Whale Shark
This next video features the absolute favourite of the Maldives waters. This is amazing video footage of a Whale Shark - such amazing creatures! The best part for me is when he opens his mouth. While they are not aggressive, I have to say I am always worried about getting swallowed down. Can you imagine!?!
