Kudarah Thila is known as a great dive spot in the Maldives, but divers here do experience strong currents. As such, a quick descent is necessary at Kudarah Thila and scuba divers are advised to be prepared to make an open water safety stop as well as to secure a surface balloon. When diving, be sure to follow the dive guide’s instructions and to begin the dive in the up current. In case of trouble, the surface ballon should be deployed as soon as divers reach shallower water during the safety stop. Scuba divers should make sure that the balloon remains visible on the water’s surface until the dive boat has located the divers.
