Garden Eels
Garden Eels
Garden Eels are thin, snake-like creatures with large eyes found in colonies on the ocean floor. From a distance, they can look a lot like a patch of Seagrass. The species was undiscovered until scuba diving became popular. They are very timid around humans, and if you are lucky enough to spot one, he will usually dart back into his hole as soon as he sees you. The Garden Eel is a member of the Congridae family, along with other Conger Eels, which can be extremely valuable creatures.
The Garden Eel feeds on a meaty diet of shrimp and small fish. In the Maldives, a good place to spot the Garden Eel is at Digga Tila dive site on Mid Ari Atoll.
