Stonefish

Stonefishes, whose name comes from their peculiar ability to disguise themselves as rocks and stones is the most deadly fish living in the ocean. They live close to the coast in Indo-Pacific oceans. There are several varieties of stonefish living in the Maldives, including a very attractive pink variety. Stonefish live mainly on the ocean floor, where they conceal themselves among rock and coral. If you stand on a stonefish and it stings you, the pain will be excruciating and if you are not treated fast, the stonefish venom can leave you paralysed or possibly dead. To avoid being stung by a stone fish, do not step on any rocks or coral while scuba diving.
