DAN Divers Alert Network

The Divers Alert Network (DAN) is a non-profit organization committed to the safety of divers around the world.  The principal aims of DAN are to provide education about scuba diver first aid and offer educational programs that promote healthy and safe diving.  Through their website www.diversalertnetwork.org, they offer constantly updated advice and information, and they also have a 24-hour emergency hotline that can be called by divers in the case of emergency.

DAN is the leading provider of emergency oxygen for scuba divers and was the first organization in the world to implement medical oxygen first aid courses.

Across the world, DAN has over 250,000 members between their various organizations: DAN, DAN Europe, DAN Japan, DAN Southeast Asia Pacific and DAN Southern Africa.  DAN Maldives, despite its geographical location, is an affiliate of DAN Europe, established in 1995 at the Blandos Island Resort, where the first DAN affiliation was announced.  A hyperbaric chamber was installed at the resort in the same year making it the first hyperbaric chamber in the Maldives.
